Heavy rains in western MP : 26 killed
Bhopal, Aug 10 (UNI) Heavy rains lashing western Madhya Pradesh crippled normal life with disruption in road traffic and flooding of all rivers and rivulets, while the toll in rain-related incidents rose to 26.
Kshipra, Kalisindh and Dhoodhi rivers were in spate. Many people were washed away in rivers and rivulets. Badwani topped with death toll of 14, Jhabua 2, Buhanpur 1, Shajapur 2, Mandsaur 2, Ratlam 4 and Ujjain 1.
Three youth were washed away while crossing a nullah in Mandsaur. Road links snapped in Ujjain, Shajapur, Dewas and Rajgarh districts.
Water from Gambhir dam was released due to heavy inflow from Yashwant Sagar reservoir.
Traffic on Bhopal-Indore road was interrupted due to flood near Sonkutch in Kalisindh river in Dewas district.
