Govt. recommends Justice N Dinkaran as chairman of KHRC
Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 10 (UNI) The Kerala Government today decided to appoint retired Chief Justice N Dinakaran as the new chairman of the Kerala Human Rights Commission.
The government had sent the letter recommending his name to Governor R L Bhatia, a release said.
A meeting of the committee members, comprising Assembly Speaker K Radhakrishnan, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan, Opposition Leader Oommen Chandy and Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, suggested his name to the post.
A native of Tamil Nadu, Justice Dinakaran after completing his law graduation, practised in the Chennai High court. He had also served as a Public Prosecutor for a long time there.
Later, in 1994 he was appointed as a Judge in the Chennai High court and also served as acting Chief Justice there.
He was also served as Justice of the Kerala High Court from 1994 to 1999.
Later, he was appointed as the Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court and he retired from there in June last.
