Gas supplies to domestic, other users to continue: IGL
New Delhi, Aug 10 (UNI) The shutdown of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation's (ONGC's) flooded Hazira plant in Gujarat has caused stoppage of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) supplies to 29 hotels in the capital, but domestic and other consumers need not panic, the Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) said today.
''We have stopped supplies to 29 hotels having alternative arrangements, but supplies to domestic users of CNG and piped gas, hospitals and others will continue as usual,'' IGL Managing Director A K De said.
He said supplies to the hotels were stopped by the IGL on its own. ''There was no directive from the Government'', he added.
With its public transport services heavily dependent on CNG, the capital witnessed record sale of over 10 lakh kg gas on August 7 and 8. The sale was to the tune of 10.07 lakh kg on Monday and 10.65 lakh kg on Tuesday, Mr De said.
Supplies from the Hazira complex had stopped on August 7 midnight.
