Four policemen dismissed in Timarpur 'encounter' case

New Delhi, Aug 10 (UNI) Four policemen, including an ASI, were today dismissed from service in connection with the alleged picking up of two men from Ghaziabad and killing them in an 'encounter'.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Pramod Tiwari and Constables Ashok, Sudesh Rana and Suraj Pal were dismissed on the basis of the preliminary enquiry conducted by the vigilance department.

All accused, dismised under Section 311 (2), were from the Special Staff of North District.

A separate enquiry by the Crime Branch is already in progress since August 2 into the July 31 incident where two men -- Zulfikar and Nazakat -- were picked by Delhi Police personnel while they were about to appear for a court hearing and allegedly killed in a routine encounter in Timarpur (North Delhi).

The father of one of the deceased had on August 2 filed an FIR in Kavi Nagar police station in Ghaziabad against the Delhi Police.
