Demand for state-level scavengers commission
Patna, Aug 10 (UNI) Maha Dalit Vikash Manch, an organisation working for the uplift of the downtrodden, today demanded constitution of state scavenger's commission in Bihar.
Manch president Babban Rawat said here that social and economic status of the deprived continued to be pathetic even after 59 years of independence.
He said that state level commission would work as a platform for better redressal of the issues faced by the oppressed classes.
Mr Rawat demanded that 8 percent seats would be earmarked for the scavengers, out of the quota allotted for the scheduled castes.
He also urged different political parties to nominate members of the oppressed section of the society to Rajya Sabha and state legislative council.
