CPI(ML) condemns police action against displaced protestors

Ranchi, Aug 10 (UNI) The Jharkhand CPI(ML) today condemned yesterday's police action against displaced people, demanding employment in Bokaro steel plant.

Central Indsutrial Security Forces and state police personnel yesterday resorted to lathicharge when altercation between the protestors and them resulted in a clash in which at elast five people were injured.

Two scribes also received mild injuries in the incident.

Reacting to the incident, party's state secretary Subendu Sen alleged that police were continuously attacking the displaced people whenever they raised voice in suport of their demand.

Mr Sen alleged that police were acting on behalf of the steel plant management.

The agitators were from the displaced families, who fell vicitim when the Bokaro steel plant had been established four decades ago.

Yesterday, a morcha of the displaced demanding employment gathered at the gate of the plant.

At around 1530 hrs, a vehicle of the security forces hit a couple on scooter near the venue, which sparked altercation between the forces and protestors resulting in a clash.

Five people, including morcha general secretary Gulab Chand, were injured. Two scribes, present at the site, also received mild injury.

The five were admitted to Bokaro general hospital.
