'CIL not pursuing super speciality hospital in Kolkata'

New Delhi, Aug 10 (UNI) Coal India Ltd (CIL) is "not pursuing" the project to set up a super speciality hospital for which it had entered in to a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) on January 31, 2004.

Stating that "the project is not being pursued by CIL at present", Minister of State for Coal Dasari Narayana Rao told the Rajya Sabha that altogether CIL incurred Rs 45.48 lakh in expenditure for advertisements in newspapers and setting up hoardings for the joint venture endeavour.

An amount of Rs 25 lakh was spent as compensation to 75 cultivators of the KMC land proposed for the hospital as a one-time grant for loss of earnings, he told the house in a written reply.
