Chhattisgarh making progress in establishing Panchayati raj
New Delhi, Aug 10 (UNI) Chhattisgarh is yet to finalise activity mapping exercises assigning functions to the three levels of Panchayats, Minister for Panchayati Raj Mani Shankar Aiyar informed the Rajya Sabha today.
However, the State has informed that it has devolved administrative control of functionaries in respect of ten departments to Panchayats. The Panchayats have also recruited 30,000 teachers for schools at the level of Panchayats, he said in a written reply.
The State has also constituted District Planning Committees.
Some progress has therefore, then made towards institutionalization of Panchayati Raj System in the state, the minister added.
