Chambal bridge to remain closed
Bhind, MP, Aug 10 (UNI) Life has been thrown off gear in the area as the Chambal bridge, which was damaged due to crossing of heavy vehicles, far exceeding the maximum tonnage limit, is under repair and will remain closed for 15 to 20 days.
Heavy vehicles were prohibited from crossing the structure, located on the Madhya Pradesh-Uttar Pradesh border, since August 8.
''I hope that the repair work will be completed in a fortnight,'' said Executive Engineer Mohd Shamshad posted at the NHAI's Etawah office.
He has informed the police and other administrative officials here and at Etawah that though the bridge's maximum tonnage limit was 25 tonnes, about 500 dumpers of far higher tonnage crossed it daily.
