Blueprint of women programmes for 11th plan
Chandigarh, Aug 10 (UNI) The Central Social Welfare Board (CSWB), which works for the empowerment of women, will organise a two-day national conference beginning tomorrow to prepare a blueprint of the thurst areas of its programmes for the eleventh five-year plan.
Talking to reporters here, Board chairperson Rajani Patil said during the deliberations in the National Conference of State Board Chairpersons and Secretaries, the funding pattern for the existing programmes would be reviewed, plans would be made to revamp some ongoing programmes and revive some closed schemes which were still relevant.
Efforts would be made to design some programmes in sync with the present times like computer training centres for self-employment besides the traditional schemes like sewing, stiching and making of papads, she said.
The Board's emphasis on empowering women at each stage of their life will be given priority in the planning process, Ms Patil said.
Primary focus would be on the programmes aimed at curbing female foeticide and infanticide through nationwide campaigns on gender sensitisation to reverse the alarming decline in the female sex ratio, she added.
