72nd birthday of Jayendra Saraswathi celebrated

Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu, Aug 10 (UNI) The 72nd birthday of Jayendra Saraswathi, the 69th Sankaracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham was celebrated at the Sankara Mutt here today.

Marking the occasion, the Seer offered prayers at 'Brindavanam' to Paramacharya Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi. Accompanied by his devotees, paying their respects to him chanting ''Jaya Jaya Sankara, Hara Hara Sankara'', and the women devotees carrying 108 pots of milk, he then proceeded to offer worship at the famous Kamatchi Amman temple here.

Several Vedic Scholars and Agnihotris were also honoured on the occasion. A Special music concert by 72 musicians was also conducted.
