Ahmedabad, Aug 9 (UNI) The Western Railway today cancelled several trains and halted some others at several places along their routes as the rain waters submerged the railway tracks near Kothan Village near Sayan Railway station near Surat.

The Western Railway Sources told UNI that the downward Shatabadi Express had been cancelled this afternoon as the upward train was still stranded at Udhana railway station near Surat.

The sources said besides Shatabadi Express, Navsari Express, Paschim Express and Gujarat Express have been halted at Bharuch Railway station, while Saurashtra Express has been stopped at Palej station.

While South-bound trains, Trivandrum Express and Rajkot-Secundrabad Express, which were to leave this morning, have been halted at Ahmedabad station by the authorities.

When asked, the sources said the rail traffic will be restored only after the tracks are cleared.
