Veterinary Science College diamond jubilee celebration on Aug 11
Hyderabad, Aug 9 (UNI) The Valedictory function of the College of Veterinary Science Diamond Jubilee Celebrations would be held here on August 11.
Vice-Chancellor of the Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University Dr Manmohan Singh said the College of Veterinary Science was one of the oldest veterinary colleges established in Andhra Pradesh on August five, 1946.
He said the main objectives of the college was to impart Under Graduate and Post Graduate and Doctoral Courses in Veterinary Sceince and Animal Husbandry, to conduct need based research in veterinary science and animal husbandry and to transfer the technology generated by the research to the livestock farming community.
He said the college offered five year degree programme in Bachelor of Veternary Science and Animal Husbandry by adopting the Veterinary Council of India pattern of curriculam.
The college had technical collaboration with Kansas State University, USA for imparting advanced training to teachers in different disciplines.
The main thrust areas of the research work of the college was on livestock, Poultry and rabbit breeding, livestock nutrition, poultry nutrition, animal disease diagnostics, health, milk and meat products, he added.
Dr Manmohan Singh said the college was conducting regular extension activities like short term training programmes for various categories of farmers.
A proposal on Buffallo Research and Development Station in Telengana with an estimated cost of Rs 120 crore, had been sent to the government.
He said Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy would participate in the validictory function.
