Tributes paid to freedom fighters

New Delhi, Aug 9 (UNI) Rich tributes were paid to freedom fighters here today on the occasion of the 64th anniversary of the call to the erstwhile British rulers to Quit India.

The Indian Youth Congress celebrated the day as Youth Congress Day after a gap of many years. IYC President Ashok Tanwar hoisted the IYC flag at the Youth Congress headquarters and administered pledge to delegates asking them to rededicate themselves to social service.

He said the Youth Congress would celebrate the day by organising campaigns to educate the common man about various social evils.

A separate function was organised at the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee office where state party chief Ram Babu Sharma and other Congressmen recalled the sacrifice of the freedom fighters. They also expressed their resolve to fight the communal forces.

A few freedom fighters were also felicitated on the occasion.
