Ravi Kamal Bhargava takes over as NHRC Secretary General

New Delhi, Aug 9 (UNI) Mr Ravi Kamal Bhargava has taken over as the new Secretary General of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).

A Maharashtra Cadre IAS officer of 1972 batch, he succeeds Mr Nirmal Singh who has been transferred to Union Overseas Indian Affairs Ministry.

Before joining NHRC Mr Bhargava was serving as the Additional Secretary in the Home Ministry's Department of Justice. He has also held several other prominent posts.

The Secretary General is the Chief Executive Officer of the Commission and the NHRC Secretariat works under his supervision.
