Rakhi celebrated with religious fervour in Jharkhand

Ranchi, Aug 9 (UNI) The festival of Rakhi, an ideal ocassion to express love for sisters, was celebrated with much religious fervour in Jharkhand.

On the day of 'Shravan Purnima,' sister Nirmala from the Brahamkumari Ishwariya Vishswavidalaya tied rakhi to Arch Bishop, Telisphore P Toppo.

Earlier the students of Ranchi Women's College marked the occassion by tying rakhi, the symbol of bonding, on the wrists of undertrials of Birsa Munda Central jail in the state capital.

Huge crowd were witnessed at card and gift shops. People also visited temples to offer special prayers.

To add more colours to the festival, courier companies had come with special rakhi offers providing separate service of sending rakhies throughout the country and abroad.

The Postal department, along with Dupont, also played vital role by providing India Post service, especially for the sisters, who would send rakhis to their brothers.
