Police, district administration clash in Kokrajhar
Kokrajhar, Aug 9 (UNI) Kokrajhar district administration and police department were at loggerheads with each other today after a constable assaulted a DC office employee.
Official sources informed that the DC's personal assistant Bikash Choudhury was on the way to office at about 1000 hours when a constable allegedly assaulted him.
Mr Choudhury alleged that constable Dilbar Hussain was joined by local OC A Choudhury and they dragged him to the police station. The assault was unprovoked, Mr Choudhury added.
The incident led to simmering tension in the DC's office and the staff went on a strike.
The office was closed till 1400 hours, when work was resumed after the intervention of DC H K Sharma and SP Hiren Nath.
Mr Nath, along with the constable and the OC, apologised for the incident and persuaded the employees to call off the strike.
