Local convictive activity brings sharp spells of rain

Chennai, Aug 9 (UNI)The city and its suburbs experienced sharp showers this evening bringing respite from sweltering heat during the day.

In contrast to oppressive heat in the morning, the skies were overcast by late afternoon bringing two sharp spells of rain.

Traffic was hit the rains inundated several roads putting office-goers returning home to hardship.

When contacted, the weather office said the rain was due to local convictive activity.

It said the weather would be cloudy and there would be a few spells of rain during the next 24 hrs.
