K'taka Governor hosts annual reception for freedom fighters

Bangalore, Aug 9 (UNI) Over 350 freedom fighters took part in the annual reception hosted by Karnataka Governor T N Chaturvedi in honour of them ahead of the Independence Day.

Home Minister M P Prakash and Primary and Secondary Education Minister Basavaraj Horatti also attended the reception held at the Raj Bhavan.

State Freedom Fighters' Association General Secreary K S Subramany urged the government to enhance their monthly pension on par with other states. Freedom fighters in other states were getting more than Rs 3,000 a month, he added.

He demanded action against those wrongly claiming that they were freedom fighters to get benefits.
