Jayawardene leads race for CEAT international cricketer

Kolkata, Aug 9 (UNI) Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene leads the race for the CEAT International Cricketer of the year with a tally of 62 points.

He has been ranked first among the top five players in the CEAT International Cricketer of the year and in the batsmen category.

Jayawardene is closely followed by another Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan with 46 points.

Muralitharan has always been recognised for his briliant performance overseas and has been equally outstanding on his own soil.

He won the CCR International cricketer of the year award twice in succession (2001-2002). Presently he is positioned second in the CEAT International cricketer of the year category with a tally of 46 points.

Among the Indian cricketers Rahul Dravid is the only cricketer in the list at the fifth position with 27 points.

As of July this year, CEAT Cricket ratings update, the Sri Lankan team tops the ranks for the CEAT International Cricket team for the yedar with 27 points.
