Israeli air strike on Gaza militant camp kills 3

GAZA, Aug 9 (Reuters) An Israeli helicopter gunship fired at least one missile into a Palestinian militant training camp in the Gaza Strip today, killing two gunmen and a three-year-old girl, witnesses said. They said the attack on the camp in Gaza City also wounded three people, one of them a child who was in critical condition.

The Israeli military, which has often attacked armed factions leading the 5-year-old Palestinian uprising, confirmed the strike, saying its target was militants who were planning attacks on Israel.

The dead gunmen were identified as members of the Popular Resistance Committees, a militant coalition that has played a leading role in firing rockets across the border into Israel.
