Haryanvis can report corruption cases on toll-free helpline
Chandigarh, Aug 9: The Haryana government has decided to provide a toll-free help line to the people so as to enable them to give information to the state Vigilance Bureau (VB) about cases of corruption involving government servants.
Giving this information here today the VB, Director R S Dalal said that the people could also give the information to the police stations of the Bureau located at the range headquarters in the state. The phone number of the toll-free helpline would soon be publicised, he added.
He said that the introduction of the toll-free helpline is aimed at involving people in the drive against corruption and to bring transparency in the functioning of the Bureau. It has also been decided to launch a website of the Bureau, he added.
He said that a special campaign has already been launched to create awareness among the rural people about the nature of corruption in government offices.
He said that the Bureau had caught 76 officers and officials red handed while accepting illegal gratification during last two months. These included executive engineers, doctors, tehsildars, block development officers, inspectors, sub inspectors, assistant sub inspectors of police and others.
