Haryana to have bomb disposal squads in NCR

Chandigarh, Aug 9 (UNI) The Haryana Government has decided to constitute Bomb Disposals Squads in the districts falling under National Capital Region (NCR) within next three months.

Keeping in view the security threats especially the government will post Bomb Disposals Squads at Gurgaon, Faridabad, Sonipat, Rohtak and Panipat, Chief Secretary Prem Prashant said while talking to mediapersons, here today.

He said two bomb squads were already functioning in Madhuban in Karnal district.

He said the Army's Western Command had been approached to impart training to police personnel regarding defusing and disposing bombs.

The Army has agreed to train police personnel to face any eventuality, he added.

Mr Prashant also said the Town and Country Planning authorities had also been directed to modify the existing rules for granting licence to Malls and other multi-storey buildings keeping in view the changing scenario. The security aspeot. CCTV cameras and other safety measures should be mandatory while giving the licence to such buildings.

The Chief Secretary said that the constitution of a state disaster management authority on the pattern of Central Disaster Management Authority was under consideration and the scope of this authority would be widened keeping in view unnatural calamities like earthquakeS. An Act would be passed within six months for establishment of such an authority, he said.

To a question about taking measures to check the activities of terrorists and anti-social elements, he said the government was in constant touch with the Delhi Police and exchange of information was a routine process.
