Gollapudi memorial award for director Mohan Krishna

Chennai, Aug 9 (UNI) Telugu Director L Mohan Krishna has been selected for the annual Gollapudi Srinivas Memorial Foundation award for his debut film ''Grahanam'' this year.

Announcing the award at a press conference here today, Mr Gollapudi Maruthi Rao, actor and father of late Srinivas, said the award was being presented for 'first time directors' in recognition of their work and to encourage them to scale new heights.

The award comprises a cash prize of Rs 1.5 lakh and a momento in the presence of some stalwarts of the Indian cinema. This year Bollywood actor Aamir Khan will be the Chief Guest while director Ramesh Sippy and actress Shobana will be the Guests of Honour.

Well-known Bengali film maker Gautam Ghose will deliver the Memorial Lecture, the topic being ''Collective memories and timelessness in cinema''.
