Gangs strikes at jeweller's house, makes good with booty
Tiruchirapalli, Aug 9 (UNI) A five-member gang of dacoits struck at a house in Musuri, near here, in the wee hours of today and escaped with 50 sovereigns of gold ornaments and Rs 25,000 in cash.
Police said the gang gained entry into the house of jeweller S Sekaran and threatened the inmates to part with the valuables.
When Sekaran resisted, he was beaten up and tied to a pillar.
They later snatched the jewellery worn by his wife Shanta and daughter Gayatri before removing more gold ornaments and the cash from the almirah. The gang then escaped under a cover of darkness.
Police rushed to the spot along with a sniffer dog and finger print experts. Five special teams had been formed to nab the culprits.
