Five from Maharashtra suspected to have been washed away

Adilabad, Andhra Pradesh, Aug 9 (UNI) Five persons believed to be from Maharashtra are suspected to have been washed away in the floods of Penuganga, a tributory of river Godavari.

Police sources said, with the flood waters slightly receding, the local people found a van trapped in the flood and tried in vain to pull it. Expert swimmers carried out a search but found no one inside.

Police said three men including the driver were seen in the van before it tried to cross the flood waters.

A police official said that search was on for the bodies and as soon as they are found and identified, their relatives would be informed.
