Diamond jewellery worth 69 lakhs recovered
Mumbai, Aug 9 (UNI) Officials of the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) today arrested an alleged smuggler and recovered diamonds and jewellery collectively worth Rs 69,15,750 at the Chhatrapathi Shivaji International airport, here.
Acting on a tip-off, sleuths from the AIU intercepted one Nandwana Jayesh Rasiklal on his arrival from London by the British Midland Airways flight No. BD-781. A detailed examination of his person and baggage led to the recovery of diamonds and jewellery collectively worth Rs. 69,15,750. He has been consequently arrested under the relevant sections of the Customs Act 1962, officials said.
Further investigations are in progress, they added.
