Earlier, PMK floor leader G K Mani, raising a point of order, stated that Mr Kalimuthu had issued statements that the Chief Minister would have tampered with files to make the charge against him. Mr Karunanidhi should inform the people of the truth, he urged.

He also offered to pay 2.63 lakh rupees per year to the Government.
Mr Kalimuthu in a written order, directed that Mr Mani could be permitted to run the canteen for a monthly rent of Rs 2,750, he said. While Mr Mani was prepared to pay 2.63 lakh rupees the former Speaker had settled for just Rs 33,000 per year, he said.

Mr Karunanidhi said he had referred to the issue in the House not to attack any individual, but in the general interest.
Mr Avudaiyappan said leaders of legislature parties could peruse the files at his chambers, after which he would give his ruling.
