Church vows to continue fight against self-financing colleges act

Thrissur, Aug 9 (UNI) Thrissur Catholic archdiocese auxiliary bishop Dr Mar Andrews Thazhath today said the church would continue the fight to protect the minority rights granted by the Constitution.

Inagurating a convention organised by the archdiocesian teachers guild here on the minority community rights protection, the bishop alleged that the new legislation brought by the LDF Government in Kerala regarding self-financing colleges was to ''cripple'' the minority rights.

The convention later passed a resolution, demanding the removal of sections 8-b and 8-c of the new act relating to minority institutions.

Archdiocesian vicar general Mon. Raphel Thattil presided over the convention.
