Bhopal, Aug 9 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today expressed grief over the demise of Dhrupad exponent Asgari Bai -- once a court singer for the erstwhile royal family of Tikamgarh -- this morning.

In his condolence message, Mr Chouhan said Asgari Bai had enriched Indian classical music with her distinct style and aesthetic perception of 'sur (note)'. Her compositions had a 'divine' touch, as per an official release here today.

Mr Chouhan prayed for granting peace to the departed and strength to the bereaved.

The funeral would take place at Tikamgarh with full state honours, the release added.
