'Brahmotsavam' at Tirumala begins on Sept 25
Tirupati, Aug 9 (UNI) The Tirumala tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) will offer free meals to more than 35,000 devotees for free darshan devotees during the nine-day Brahmotsavam beginning September 25.
The free food will be distributed under the 'Nitya Annadhanam Scheme.' The decision was taken at a high-level meeting at Tirumala recently,according to TTD sources.
In view of terror threat to Tirumala and the recent attacks in the country, the Vigilance officials were advised to patrol the pathway to Tirumala and intensify security arrangments.
A separate meeting with District Superintendent of Police, V V Gopalakrishna would be held shortly, to discuss the security arrangments to be made during the Brahmotsavams.
Devasthanam Executive Officer A P, V N Sharma had requested APSRTC to operate more services, particularly between Tirumala and Tirupati.
The Engineering Department was instructed to spruce up facilities like street lighting and drinking water for the devotees.
Besides giving more importance to sanitation and hygiene, the Chief Medical Officer had been advised to arrange first aid centres at all important locations in Tirupati and Tirumala and also between Alipiri and Tirumala.
