Assam Rifles Subedar killed in bomb blast

Imphal, Aug 9 (UNI) An Assam Rifles jawan was killed in a bomb blast at Wangjing in Thoubal district this morning.

Army sources said suspected militants blasted an IED using remote control when troops of 34 Assam Rifles were deployed for ROP (Road opening party) duty at the area.

Senior Assam Rifles and police personnel have rushed to the area to take stock of the situation.

The IED might have been planted earlier and had been detonated when the Assam Rifles party passed through the area, army sources said.

No one has been arrested so far.
