All passengers rescued after bus drowns in Banas river

Jaipur, Aug 9 (UNI) All passengers of a private bus which had plunged into the Banas river due to flash flood, inundating the bridge under Khamnore police station in Rajsamand district today, have been rescued safely.

Police sources said the bus was going from Nathdwara to Maseen village. While crossing the river, the bus drowned in a flash flood.

According to Relief and Disaster management Secretary R K Meena, there were 22 passengers who were stranded in the bus but managed to climb the roof till they were rescued.

The district administration sought the help of army helicopters from Jodhpur. Army personnel from Udaipur cantonment also reached the spot and rescued people with the help of a crane. The district collector and SP supervised the operation.

Southern Rajasthan has been experiencing heavy rain for the last few days.
