AIADMK members stage walkout in Pondy Assembly

Pondicherry, Aug 9 (UNI) The opposition AIADMK today staged a walkout in the territorial assembly protesting against speaker R Radhakrishnan not allotting ''adequate time'' to party legislature leader A Anbazhagan to take part in discussion on demand for grants.

Participating in the debate, Mr Anabzhagan raised several points and spent most of his time without completing topics on several departments. The speaker issued warning bells to him. However, Mr Anbazhagan sought more time and continued with his speech.

The speaker then announced that the member had utilised his full time and invited leader of the opposition A M H Nazeem to participate in the discussion.

Mr Anbazhagan continued to argue with the speaker and requested to allot some more time, which was turned down by the speaker, following which Mr Anbazhagan and Om Sakthi Segar staged a walkout and attended the proceedings after a few minutes.

The third AIADMK member Omalingam was not present in the House at that time.

Later, talking to mediapersons, Mr Anabazhagan alleged that his mikes were disconnected, which was not a good precedent.
