3 SIMI activists remanded to police custody till August 14th

Nagpur, Aug 9 (UNI) Three alleged activists of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) were today remanded to police custody till August 14 by the local magistrate here.

Shakeel Warsi Abdul Naseer (32), Shakir Ahmed Naseer (27) and Mohammed Rehan Khan Ataullah Khan (21) were arrested from different locations in the city late last evening, Police Sub-Inspector Syed Iqbal said. Compact discs (CDs) and 'inflammatory' literature were recovered from their possession.

The three are suspected to have links with terrorist outfits involved in the July 11 Mumbai local train blasts and the June 1 abortive bid on the headquarters of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Nagpur.

The three have been booked under Sections 10 and 13 of the Unlawful Activists (Prevention) Act, he added.
