Team India players to get new footwear for tri-series

Bangalore, Aug 8 (UNI) Team India players will get new pairs of footwear for the tri-series in Sri Lanka commencing on August 14.

In a chat with newspersons here today, Team Physio John Gloster said each player would select the footwear of his choice.

He said earlier footwear for the team was imported from Australia. However, the responsibility had now been entrusted with Sports Accessories major Nike.

Gloster said ''wearing proper pair of shoes is important for players, especially pace bowlers as they have to maintain balance while running. It will also prevent players from getting injured while bowling, running between the wickets and fielding.

Earlier, Gloster held a detailed discussion with Nike representatives on the requirements of each and every player.
