Sensex trades 143 pts up at 10,955 in noon trading

Mumbai, Aug 8 (UNI) The BSE Sensex was up at 10,955 in intra-noon trade today, 143 points more than the previous close, on account of hike in crude oil prices leading to the firming of major oil scrips.

All the indices were up on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensitive Index (Sensex), lead by banking stocks, up by 2.68 per cent. The positivity was equally distributed in the midcap and smallcap sectors. IT sector was down 0.81 per cent, while capital goods was down 0.33 per cent.

The gainers on the index are - ICICI, Bharti Airtel, L&T, ITC, SBI and ONGC, all up between 1.61 and 3.70 per cent.

The losers on the index are - Ranbaxy and BHEL, both down between 0.30 and 0.27 per cent.
