Sensex open 27 points in the green
Mumbai, Aug 8: The BSE sensitive index today opened 27 points in the green over firm Asian markets and also the firming of blue-chip Indian companies.
After opening at 10,839.53.28 compared to the previous close of 10,812.64 points, the BSE sensitive index currently trades at 10,924.41, which is 112 points more from the previous close.
Key benchmark indices in Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan were up between 0.37 - 1.1 per cent.
Major sectoral indices on the BSE were all in the positive territory. MidCap, Smallcap, Bankex and Capital Goods were all trading in the green between 0.61 to 2.55 per cent, with Bankex leading the pack with an increase of 2.55 per cent.
Major gainers on the index were- ICICI, Bharti, Tata Motors, SBI, ITC and Reliance Industries, all up between 0.98 to 3.85 per cent.
Major losers on the index were Cipla, Ranbaxy, Reliance Communications and Hero Honda all down between 0.22 to 0.59 per cent.
