Rs 4.36 lakh looted from bank in Mumbai

Mumbai, Aug 8 (UNI) About five unidentified people today looted Rs 4.36 lakh cash from the Maharashtra Co-operative Bank at Kurla in North East Mumbai.

Police said, about five unidentified people weilding sharp weapons, barged into the bank at 0840 hrs and threatened the sweeper. They later broke open the strong room and decamped with Rs 4.36 lakh cash.

There was no one except the sweeper in the bank at the time of the incident as the bank opens for public transactions at 0900 hrs.

The police has called the sniffer dog squad. No one including the staff is being allowed to enter into the bank.

No arrests have been made so far. A case of robbery has been registered, police added.
