Rs 192 crore project to improve water supply in NCR towns
Chandigarh, Aug 8 (UNI) The National Captial Region Planning Board has sanctioned a project costing over Rs 192 crore to improve water supply and sewerage system in eight towns in the NCR region in Haryana.
The project, to be completed by February, 2009, would cover Hodal, Sohna, Palwal, Rewari, Rohtak, Panipat, Gohana and Samalkha, a spokesman for the Public Health Department said.
He said the Board had undertaken another project costing Rs 71.54 crore to augment water supply in the towns of Sonipat, Rewari, Rohtak, Jhajjar and Gurgaon.
Another similar project was being implemented at a cost of about Rs 16 crore in Hisar to improve the water supply and sewerage. It would be completed by January, 2008, the spokesman said.
Also, under the Accelerated Urban Water Supply Programme, schemes had been approved to raise the water supply status in 38 towns. The total cost of the project is Rs 76.69 crore.
While the schemes had been completed in 22 towns, these would be completed in the remaining 16 towns by the end of this financial year. Half of the expenditure of the project was being borne by the state government and the remaining by the Central government, he added.
