Power rates go up in Asom, BJP register protest

Guwahati, Aug 8 (UNI) The Asom Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today held a demonstration to protest the hike in power tariff in the state from today.

The party staged a demonstration in front of the Assam State Electricity Board (ASEB) office, Bijulee Bawan, at Paltan Bazar in the city.

Several leaders of the party took part in the dharna.

The ASEB had announced a rise in electricity rates for domestic as well as commercial purposes up to 25 per cent with effect from today.
