New Commander takes over A
Port Blair, Aug 8 (UNI) Inspector General S P Sharma has taken over the command of Indian Coast Guard Region (Andaman&Nicobar) from Deputy Inspector General B S Yadav, who is leaving on transfer to Coast Guard Headquarters, New Delhi.
Mr Sharma is from the 1981 batch of Coast Guard Officers and a specialist in communication apart from being an alumni of College of Defence Management, Secundrabad.
During his service of over 25 years, he has held various operational and administrative appointments both ashore and afloat, notable among them being the command of ICG ships C-04, Naikidevi, Varad and Samar, Joint Director (Operations) and Chief Staff Officer, CGRHQ (west).
Prior to coming to A&N region, he was Director (Operations) at Coast Guard Headquarters, New Delhi. He had also held this appointment from 2000 to 2002.
