Kolkata, Aug 8 (UNI) While its pouring misery in Mumbai, a relentless sun was beating down on Kolkatans.

Since the last two days the citizens have been braving a harsh sun in absence of any rainfall. They sweltered in sky rocketing temperatures with a high humidity level worsening the situation.

According to the Met department, the temperature soared to a maximum of 36 degrees Celsius from a high of 29 degrees Celsius a couple of days ago. The minimum was 26 degrees Celsius.

However, there was a hopeful note as they forecast rains within the next 48 hours.

The relative humidity was high at 99 per cent, Met officials added.
