Hitachi India sets up new business unit in India

Bangalore, Aug 8 (UNI) Hitachi India Pvt Ltd today launched a new unit in the country, Offshore Development Management Centre (ODMC), to provide project management support in software product development by the parent company's outsourcing partners.

ODMC Senior General Manager Daisuke Yokotsuka said in a release here that the new unit would support and reinforce project management communication between the design team of Hitachi's software product division in Japan and its Indian partners.

Functioning from Mumbai with an intial strength of ten, it would also collaborate with the product division and partners to optimise product quality, schedule management and change management. Hitachi India proposed to set up the same function in Chennai in the near future, he said.

Mr Yokotsuka said Hitachi recognised India as one of the most competent and strategically important markets in software development, and had collaborated with Indian software partners for more than ten years in middleware and management software. Patni, L and T Infotech and Polaris were among Hitachi's Indian partners, who have contributed to its success in the software business. Hitachi valued India as a development base to improve the competitive edge of the software market.

Well known for its high performance and reliability, Hitachi's most famous middleware product, JP1, had been enjoying the number one market share in Japan, especially in mission critical areas.

With an aggressive plan to expand Hitachi middleware business in global markets, Hitachi India would closely collaborate with Indian software partners and enhance business opportunities, he added.
