High Court restores registration of Emmanuel Mission societies

Jaipur, Aug 8 (UNI) In a major relief to the Emmanuel Mission a divsion bench of the Rajasthan High Court today restored the registration of the societies run by organisation in the state.

The BJP government in the state, after a controversy over the publication of the book ''Haqeeqat'', which allegedly denigrated the Hindu goddess, had cancelled the registration of the five societies managed by the Mission in Kota. However the bench comprising Justice Gyan Sudha Mishra and Vineet Kothari restored the registration of the societies today.

In another case, priest MA Thomas and his son Sammuel Thomas were granted anticipatory bail by the High Court yesterday. The case was registered by the State's Social Welfare Department under section 3 of the Rajasthan Emblem Misuse (Prevention) Act, 1950. The district court had earlier rejected the application for anticipatory bail to the two.
