Fourth procession of Mahakaleshwar held
Ujjain, MP, Aug 8 (UNI) In a classic 'jugalbandi' of the administration and tradition, police personnel, scouts and guides, several voluntary organisations, political leaders and officials took part in this year's fourth 'sawari' (procession) of Mahakaleshwar, one of India's dozen 'Jyotirlingas', in this ancient temple town.
Armed police personnel smartly saluted the deity as it was brought out of the shrine yesterday.
The procession is organised every Monday in the 'Sawan' and 'Bhadon'. Thousands of devotees lined up on either side of the route to shower flowers on 'Rajadhiraj Bhagwan Mahakal' who was in a palanquin.
At 1600 hrs, the 'sawari' reached Ramghat on the bank of the Kshipra and after worship the procession headed back to the temple.
