CBI arrests two officials of Sales Tax Department

New Delhi, Aug 8 (UNI) Two officials of the Sales Tax Department have been arrested on bribery charge, the CBI said today.

Assistant Sales Tax Officer C P Kataria and Value Added Tax (VAT) Inspector Mohar Singh, both posted in Ward No 95 of the Sales Tax Department here, had demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 5000 from a complainant, a CBI spokesman said.

They had sought bribe to help the complainant obtain a Trader Identification Number (TIN). The CBI laid a trap and arrested the two officials while accepting the bribe.

They were produced in court which remanded them to 14 days' judicial custody.
