At least 600 families shifted in Beed

Beed, Maharashtra, Aug 8 (UNI) Authorities here shifted at least 600 families from 13 villages of Georai and Majalgaon tehsil as water released from Jayakwadi dam in neighbouring Aurangabad district today entered their villages.

The district administration has already issued an alert to the 33 villages mostly on the bank of the Godavari river and falls under the two tehsil --Majalgaon and Georai -- after the irrigation authorities in Aurangabad released 1.75 lakh cusecs of water from Jayakwadi dam yesterday, Deputy Collector R R Deshmukh, who has been camping in the flood affected villages, told UNI this morning.

Incessant rains which continued for the fourth consecutive day in the district, has claimed four lives in the district so far.

As many as seven base camps have been set up for the flood affected people in the district.
