Unemployed youths injured in lathi charge
Chandigarh, Aug 7 (UNI) About a dozen persons, including four women, were injured in a lathicharge during the protest by several hundred unemployed vocationally trained youth of Punjab here today.
The city cops lathicharged the protestors as they tried to cross over the barriers at the Matka Chowk, raising anti-Amarinder Singh government slogans and demanding jobs.
The agitated youth had gathered under the banners of 'Unemployed Agriculture Inspectors', 'Unemployed PTI Teachers' and 'Unemployed Pharmacists of Punjab'.
As many as 54 of them were arrested during the violent protest and were later released, police said.
