Two Kabadi fans killed, 60 injured in Asom road accident
Silchar, Aug 7 (UNI) Two persons were killed and at least 60 injured, some of them seriously, when a truck carrying them skidded off the road and met an accident in Asom's Karimganj district yesterday, police said today.
The over loaded vehicle, carrying about 100 persons, was going to Kandigram from Chandrapur in Karimganj district of south Asom.
All the passengers were going to witness a final match of a village-level Kabadi tournament, in which the team of their village participated.
Two persons, killed in the accident have been identified as Zakir Hussain(14) and Abdul Sattar(40), were the residents of Monosangan village in Karimganj.
Twelve seriously injured people have been admitted to Silchar Medical Collage Hospital. Others had been treated in Srigauri and Karimganj civil hospitals.
Assam excise and border area development minister Gautom Roy visited the injured persons in the SMCH.
